Seda pintada Aziza Puch
@azizapuch
I am Aziza Puch, a textile artisan who paints silk. I was born and raised in Madrid and more than 30 years ago I decided to settle in a village in Navarra, form a large family betting on the sustainability of the rural world. I started to paint.
With a creative spirit and artistic training in the fields of architecture and ceramics, I came to painting on silk almost self-taught more than 20 years ago. First as a hobby or escape valve and later believing in the feasibility of the project to make a living from it. In this time there have been more active times than others, like life itself.
In July 2019 I registered as self-employed (I had been previously but I did not resist the 2008 crisis) and with a pandemic in between, today I am trying to consolidate the company AZIZA PUCH SEDA PINTADA.
My business objectives are:
Create timeless, durable and sustainable hand-painted natural silk accessories and complements by providing exclusivity and originality against mass and standardized production.
My learnings from the Crafting Business Programme:
Not only is it important to create a good product, but it must be communicated to reach the customer. Creativity must be brought to all areas of the company. A company is a sum of different departments, all of them vital for the maintenance and growth of the project.
Until today I have been very focused on the online sale of my product to the end customer. From now on I am going to work on other ways of generating sales: corporate and protocol gifts, collaborations with decorators and architects, and entering the wedding and event niche.
My 5 top tips that I have learnt on this journey:
