MEET THE MAKER
Porter + Trundle is the design studio of artist’s Sarah Emily Porter and James Trundle. In 2014 we discussed how our individual practices could form a makers collective, but it wasn’t until James helped Sarah to fabricate the award-winning sculpture, Anatomy of Colour in 2018 that we realised the potential in working together. The following year we set up Porter + Trundle from James’ South London workshop.
With an intuitive eye for colour, combined with a shared interest in the process of making and material manipulation, we create playful, sculptural works that remind us to be bold and daring. Occupying the space between fine art and furniture design, our intention is to make intriguing objects that are so beautifully crafted and conceptually considered they disrupt the disposable culture that has become an inherent part of human nature.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEEDBACKS?
we have really focussed on why we do what we do, consolidating our values and setting the foundations for us to create a solid partnership. Really getting to the heart of what we’re both passionate about has helped to focus our portfolio, project proposals and future plans. As a relatively new business, we were hesitant to embrace structural changes to our individual practices to accommodate Porter + Trundle but the Programme has given us the confidence to pursue our collaboration and formalise Porter + Trundle.
