MEET THE MAKER
My name is Nunu Todua. I create tote bags, backpacks and tapestry with my own design. It is mainly our psychological wellness that these colorful designs effect. The idea was born naturally as I had been sewing clothes for my children and these shredded colorful remains were left aside. Mixing them together turned out to be a surprisingly beautiful piece. I have been keeping these colors in my mind since my childhood but one particular event provoked and pushed me to reinterpret them in my work.
WHY YOU DECIDED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM?
I realized that I needed an extra theoretical information for my professional growth and development. It is important in art that we get different views and opinions about our work, to meet other artists and gain knowledge in various ways of production. This program has helped me achieve all of the above.
I am more than happy that I have taken this course and it has been such a privilege. The pleasure was mine attending the course alongside the group of professionals. Afterwards I took part in traditional crafts and design Tbilisi international summit “EthnoFest”, where I had an opportunity to encounter other artisans’ craftwork.
After I completed Crafting Business program, I applied for “Enterprise Georgia” state support program for micro entrepreneurs, which I won and received a grant for my business enlargement. I absolutely credit Crafting Business program experience for my success at “Enterprise Georgia” contest.
As a result, it is now possible for me to expand my enterprise and recruit staff which will lead to a new, extraordinary and special product that will include inscription: Produced in Georgia with support of European Union. This will serve as a little bridge between Georgia and Europe. Apart from that I am planning to produce my craft with less investment.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEEDBACKS?
The topics that were discussed in the frame of Crafting Business program were engaging and thought-provoking, particularly Product Development, Marketing, Access to Supporting Funds and Business Planning.
