Eva Escamilla Tamarit

My name is Eva, I am a textile in love crazy artisan sited in Valencia, the silk city. I have found in textiles my perfect way of expression in 2010. Since I have being felting with wool, nuno felting, batik painting, shibori, ecoprinting, natural dyeing, etc. And from 2016 specialized in silk painting. I buy white silk and drawing, hand painting with pro steaming paintings my own designs. Shawls, fans, purses, ponchos, kaftans, carrés, etc.

In 2017 I have opened my workshop and shop and closed in 2020 because of the pandemic and it was a perfect moment to stop and rethink my life.  So now I am rethinking my project on the way of how-to comeback in an improved way, to be more sustainable and solid. And become a business.

My business objectives are:

To become a small and rich artisan next 2 years.

My learnings from the Crafting Business Programme:

• I must be a business artisan woman, and never forget to include my salary. Always feel proud to combine talent, excellence in the making and collaborate with other artisans in my region.
• Thinking in my project as a business.
• Creativity + business + customer satisfaction= happy artisan.

My 5 top tips that I have learnt on this journey:

1. Create always thinking in my client’s needs.
2. Create with sustainable methods.
3. Communicate what makes you unique.
4. Show you are self-working and explaining.
5. If you are not happy and rich, your business will be not sustainable.
