MEET THE MAKER
Anita Michaluszko is a textile designer and is fascinated by weaving constructions. Fibers are twisted into yarn and threads are crossed to form a surface. ‘Weaving keeps everything together and makes it flexible. This all seems obvious, but it is actually a miracle.’ With her work she likes to evoke amazement, and also to meet the need to experience a material with the senses.
Project
Augmented Weaving by Flavia Bon and Anita Michaluszko is a series of collaborations around the technique of jacquard weaving and digital craft. This project interweaves various physical, digital, and virtual ways of working into one unified and boundless process. Initially spawned in a digital realm, textile objects evolve to manifest themselves in physical space and vice versa.
Value iAtelier
The ideas for this project were already floating on our minds, but the iAtelier program gave us the final impluse and the right framework to conduct this reasearch. Collaborating with each other gave us a sense of purpose and knowing that the work is going to be exhibited added a sense of importance to it. The official setting of the program also made it easier for us to apply for an additional grant. Without financial support it would not have been possible for us to find the time to dive so deep into these subjects. We have learned so much in so many aspects during this collaboration. An overwhelming amount of ideas and possibilities manifested themselves, and together with the techniques urge us to make the ideas tangible.
