AN EXTRACT FROM THE CASE STUDY FOR CRAFTING EUROPE
I was happy when Crafting Europe gave me the opportunity to go to Florence. It is one of my favourite cities. I had been there twice, and it was a different way to know the place: by working!
I think the fair had a perfect hall for me, called Prodigio Zouganista (Tkafumi Mochizuki), Simone Beneforti o Renato Olivastri, were some of the exhibitors I liked, and I Identified with. The other pavilion was Artefacendo. It was like basic crafts, not too specialized. In the other part, but almost hidden, was the jewellery zone. There was a very beautiful exposition of mosaics, and works on stone, too. I found a stand of Crafting Europe, and I was talking with the girl, and I explained why I was there. Nevertheless, I found two providers: one is Susanna from Falsa Squadra, and the other Arfasatti argenteria. We will work together soon. I think the fair is good but all craft fairs I know (except in Maison&Objet), have products made by hand, but the appearance is not good. I think design and finishes are not too good.
I feel this trip confirm the thoughts about my expertise and my work is good enough to sell in other countries, and I hope I will be, in a very near future, in a Métier D´Art Hall at Maison&Objet. In my opinion, you can find similar products and fairs like this one in Europe. Unless it was a sectorial fair, or with a very specific product of the country, there are a lot of stands with products without any interest on special skills, or design, or artistic contain.
