The Biennial of Contemporary Glass Jewellery – FUSION 2024 is set to dazzle visitors at the MAVA – Museum of Contemporary Glass Art in Alcorcón, Spain. This year’s exhibition features an impressive collection of over 60 pieces from 30 creators hailing from 12 different countries. Each work is meticulously presented in a special bilingual (English/Spanish) online catalogue, complete with stunning images of the selected pieces.
FUSION 2024 showcases a diverse array of glass-jewellery makers, from seasoned artists to emerging talents. The exhibition highlights a variety of mediums, including borosilicate glass, Murano glass, lampwork glass, and fused glass. These glass elements are expertly paired with materials such as sterling silver, stainless steel, steel wire, brass, and various precious metals. The works employ techniques like casting, fusing, lampworking, and coldworking, offering a comprehensive look at contemporary glass jewellery design.
The pieces on display were chosen by a jury of experts from multiple sectors through an open call, which attracted applications from across Europe. A total of 87 creators from 26 different countries submitted 171 pieces for consideration, making the final selection a true representation of excellence in the field.
FUSION 2024 is organised by MAVA – Museum of Contemporary Glass Art in Alcorcón, Fundesarte and WCCE.
